Kobus Kraftt sails as Lead Deckhand aboard M/Y Usher. He joins Usher after several years working on motoryachts that have taken him all over the East Coast of the US, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. He has sailed as deckhand, bosun, and mate aboard a variety of vessels and always enjoys a new challenge. Kobus has been a part of ‘countless’ deliveries up and down the East Coast of the US (he has a particular fondness for Maine), and he also counts the Bahamas among his favorite cruising ground.
Prior to joining the yachting industry, Kobus worked in sugar cane farming and at golf resorts in his native South Africa. Originally from a small town of Empangeni in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Kobus has a strong background in hospitality, and he loves the travel, excitement and lifestyle that is inherent to the yachting industry. When he is not working, Kobus can be found golfing and spending time with friends.
Kobus loves the unpredictability of a yachting career, and he appreciates the opportunity to always be ‘close to the water and catching some rays.’ He was drawn to the yachting industry for the adventure and for the opportunity to meet interesting people and see beautiful places, and he is looking forward to both on M/Y Usher.
